Buff orpington/dominique cross: NEW PICS

I hatched out 22 BO x BR pullets in April and some have yellow legs, some have white legs, some have willow green legs, and some have blue slate legs. I researched it and found that if the Buff Orp rooster is impure for leg color the pullets will have legs of any of these four colors.

Doublebow, did you know that that cross makes sex-links? Real pretty girl you got there!

The dark legs are odd. BO have white legs and Doms are yellow right? Wonder why they came out dark.

The barred rock should have black shanks and feet but the barring gene removes all or almost all the black in the shanks. The birds inherited the dark colored legs from the barred rock. The females do not carry the barring gene therefore they have darker colored shanks.

Well, I am disappointed! I have this great looking (imo) BO/Dom cross pullet who just started laying. She has laid several eggs now and they are small. and pale. My Bo's laid large glossy pinkish brown eggs and I was hoping for that with this pullet. And I was wanting to hatch some more of this cross. Now I am thinking not. Does anyone else have this cross?

Her are the current pictures of this girl. Her eggs have gotten a touch bigger.

What a beautiful bird! I have lavender Orpington rooster and three Dominique pullets. After seeing your photo I’m sure I will hatch some of their eggs once they start laying. Wow.

Sexlinks? How would you tell a male from a female. I have a lavender Orpington rooster and Dominiques. After seeing photos I’m thinking of hatching some of their eggs when they start laying well. Also, what does BR stand for? Thanks

BR is probably Barred Rock. Definitely try some of these crosses using Buff Orpington roosters and either Dominique or Barred Rock hens. They look like they have really good dual-purpose potential.
