Dear chicken peoples, I am a first timer who bought three hens, or so I think! (Buff Orpington, Australorpe, Barred Rock).
At 10 weeks, the Orpie has been looking suspiciously cockerely ... so, I need your help!
I got it as a 4 week old from Murray McMurray's, and I kind of assumed the professionals there would have a sure shot at sexing a 4 week old, but maybe not...
I am sharing a series of photos, from 4 weeks to 10 weeks old (now). I know it's bigger than the others, but the Australorpe is 1 week younger, and the barred rock about 4 weeks younger.
If it matters, the Orpie has become a bit of a bully over the last 3 weeks or so, seems to chase the others around the yard for seemingly no reason (well, ocasionally it's one of them finding a worm!). Thankfully, it can;t fly nearly as well as the others, who find safe haven by flying up to a chair or running to under my chair where they know I will block the orpie
