I love buff orpingtons, easily my favorite breed. They don't do so well with predators around in my experience though. If I had a small flock in town I would keep nothing but. Out here where I live is like the wild west for a bird though, I need girls who keep their head on a swivel. So my vote's for love, but it's because I love them that I don't keep them anymore.

I have a buff named Marigold, and she’s one of my favorite girls in the flock! (Don’t tell the others.)
She‘s a pain, don’t get me wrong, but I love her. She thinks that she is much higher in the pecking order than she actually is, so her ego is ALMOST as large as her fluffy bum. Whenever you pick up another chook, she will appear at your feet to try and peck other bird in question as soon as you put them down. I swear she gets angry because she’s not the one being held!

We should create a list about why buff orpingtons are so awesome!

3. Cute color
4. Fluffy Butts
5.
I love me some buffs!
Reasons why I like them and why the haters should as well,

-Cute lil faces,
-Great personalities,
-Reliable layers, (at least my gals are)
-SPLENDID mothers!
-Fluffy butts
-Sass. They are especially sassy.
-Decent meat birds.

Need I say more?

But besides color? What about temperament and egg laying or broody hens? I know mine excel at all these things! Mine have always been well behaved and awesome little pets. Like dogs! My Paco would come when called and let you pick her up. My hens lay one egg every day unless its extremely cold or occasionally really hot. My poor Betty sat on her eggs for 23 day instead of 21 because her eggs were a staggered hatch, then she defended them from other chickens but never once bit me. She protected them her entire time with them and then died protecting them! I have plenty of other stories that support why buff orpingtons are awesome.
Besides the color buff, I have no problem with Orps, I just don’t like the buff ones.
