Let’s pretend that the whole world gets rid of all the other chickens, most of which by the numbers speaking are red sex link hybrids, leghorns and Cornish cross broilers. Replace them all with massive flocks of Buff Orpingtons. Will peace and harmony prevail around the globe. Afraid not. We would be plunged into famine as these hordes of inefficient feed converters consumed all the grain but only produced less half the amount of eggs and meat. Those are the facts. After WWII, birds like the BO were left behind in the dust, as sensible efficient feed converting hybrids produced food so well that famine persisted only in war torn, drought stricken, underdeveloped, countries.
