Buff Orpington rooster

Hello, I am new to having chickens. We purchased four hens as pets, one turned out to be a rooster. We can not have a rooster where we live. The rooster is as sweet and gentle as the hens and our kids love them. Someone on here was nice to share her experience with rooster and hers turned mean as they got older. Is that true for Buff Orpingtons as well? Any ideas how or if I can find a safe pet home for this rooster? I have heard of craigslist but have heard bad things about advertising pets there. Thank you for any information. My 10year old daughter is quite attached to this rooster and I would love for him to be okay.

I'm sorry to hear that one of your hens is a rooster. If you post at the links NorthFlChick left you with, you may be able to find him a good home. I've never advertised birds on craigslist before (nor bought any off of it) so unfortunately don't have any personal experience/tips.

I'm sure many people will be happy to take your Buff Orpington. That breed has a reputation for being gentle with people and with hens.

Good luck with your three lovely hens and rehoming your rooster!
