Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.

Hello Everyone,
Like a lot of you, I'm new to backyard chickens and I think I might have a rooster. Sophia is about 3 almost 4 months old and has a pretty red comb and she makes a noise that's similar to crowing every morning. I might be in denial about her being a rooster since she's my favorite chicken, but I read that hens can crow too. Thank you all for the help!
