LOL ! His dad does the same thing ! Monty also stands with his fluffy but to the fan, with his wings out. He looks like a giant gold ball then. I got a few cantalopes that were over ripe from the farmers' market this weekend. I chilled those and gave them to the gang. What a feast ! Not even the skins left. Now every body has messy shirt fronts .Vickie..this rooster scared me today..i saw all of these dark brown feathers running down his front..thought..what on earth? picked him up and it was nothing more than soaking wet.. he,was dunking his bean in the bucket .i had frozen water bottle floating in it...it was very hot and humid..he figured out that if he sticks his bean in the water then stand in front of the fan...its pretty nice..cant beleive he figured that out..

Look at the leg color, they look yellow not the Orpingtons color.I don't know who sold these birds to you as Buff Orpingtons . but they are not Buff Orps. I'm sorry to say. These look like hatchery New Hampshires possibly.
Looks like you are having a good time with Teresa, Gerald and Carl. Cute picture's!!! It's possible that they are a Buff Cross that are showing more of a New Hampshire Red, but they don't appear to be Buff Orpington in the pictures. We have purchased birds before that turned out to be a different breed than advertised. It can happen. All our Buffs have a golden color with their first set of feathers and your birds have such a dark red color that I don't see it changing with time. Good Luck with your Birds and Welcome to Back Yard Chicken. We are glad to have you!!!i have three buff orpingtons, they're actually a little darker than the usual buff color, im not sure what color they actually are or if they will lighten up with age, they're only 3 months old.(does anone know what color they are?) 2 roosters, 1 hen, (carl, reese, and geraldine)Carl is our pudgiest roo, but he's the boss of everyone
reese we thought was a hen so her full name is teresa. geraldine (gerald) is my favorite, she is the friendliest hen out of all 9, the oldest, too, close in age to our lavender orpingtons. she will sit on my lap and let me pet her, she is very soft and loves grapes!
she will run after me like a penguin if i have food or if she's scared
the roos arent as soft and fluffy as jerry. although they seem to fight often, i see them cuddled up together in the coop sometimes
i love these chickens, they are my favorites next to the black orpingtons.![]()

Carl
Reese (in the front) carl in the back shaking his head
Reese has always been bald under his wings. and carl sure likes to pick on him for it D:
