I've read that there are up to 15 different shapes of the chicks "vent" and you have to examine it to determine sex. Sounds complicated and better left to pros, especially if you can kill the chick trying :-/

Ok I just love this picture - it reminds me so much of my silly girls.
Yes very good. Are they very good foragers for small backyards?
I LOVE using various colors of vetrap bandaging on chicks...it has some give and it stays put and easy to remove and replace as they approach the age for more permanent banding.
He may have injured it at some point. Or it could be recent. Sometimes they injure them from coming off the roost if it's more than a few feet off the ground but give him time, and see. I have one hen that injured her leg when she was very young that has an odd walk, and yet looks fine when standing. You just never know if you didn't raise them from a chick yourself I guess. My BO rooster is large (out of a show rooster) & he seems to have one of his legs that is bowed out some so when he walks he has like a limp is this cause how heavy he is or is his leg bent? is there something I can do to fix/help this? I got him from a man near me - he hatched him (roo is 1 year old) the man had him in a small run. when you look at him leg looks straight just notice it when he walks.I'm thinking maybe his leg is just not very strong due to not moving around much? any ideas
