Stress does stop the shell production,But it resolves itself rather quickly. She might just have faulty plumbing and does not produce enough.
This is a hard call.

I wish someone else who knows more would see this and chime in.

Me too!!! I feel woefully inadequate to give advice since I have only been at this a little over a year.

No, they don't care much for the baths... washes off all their carefully stored dust.

I have a problem girl like yours... Basin was thick with dirt even after the 3rd go through last time I bathed her. (A lot of stuff sticks to scrambled eggs.)

It does not sound like your girl is happy, though. You've nothing to lose by giving her a warm Epson salt bath and putting some EVO on her vent. Seems to work for my scrambled egg layer when she's looking a little off - sometimes she even lays a normal egg after that.

Most of the time my problem girl is indistinguishable from the others in her behavior. *shrug*

I love this picture. Sadly I haven't seen this hen in a week or two. She was broody this spring and I'm thinking g she went broody somewhere in the woods.

Sorry to hear about your missing girl. Have you ever had one of your girls do that and come back?

. Not to count all the chicks I've hatched and the 30 coming tomorrow!!! I am so excited for all these babies!!!

She finally passed the eggshell yesterday and seems to be doing a bit better, still a little dazed though. I might try getting some vitamins for their water even though she's the only one who seems to have a problem?
