*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Pics
I have a young flock almost 1 year old 7 hens and 3 unrelated roos. When should they start laying. My old english bantams are already laying. Just wondering.

Just got three Buff Orps and three Amerucaunas from my local feed store yesterday! They are either two or three days old. There is one chick that is very small. I named him Jerry. The group is living with my two week old RIR and BJG. Jerry always tries to peck at the older ones. He is quite the tough, adventourous little chick!

Jessica~ if you post pics of them, we might beable to tell for you :)

Yes, but after seeing a lot of pictures of chicks I can sort of just tell somehow. My own though, I'm never sure lol.

I have 8 hens and 1 buff orpington/easter egger cockeral. As of right now one of them (my favorite Talkie) is broody. I have had broodies before and orpies in my mind are the most wonderful mothers. For anyone who doesn't have them I would recommend getting some immediately.

P.S. I will post some pictures as soon as I can get some good ones.

We just got our buff orpingtons Im so excited to finally be able to raise them they are also our first chickens they are about a week old today Im wondering one of my babies wing feathers are not smooth looking they kind of bunch up... is this normal? All of the rest of the wings on my birds look smooth agains the body they all lay flat except this one. Also they are straight run... half of them have long wing feathers and are just getting tail feathers and the other half have short wing feathers and puffy butts still any ideas on sex?

Justinelee, good question, can't wait for the answer to that wing/tail question.
My chicks are not hatchery but came from a breeder and I hatched them, they are just babies but all ready there is a big difference in the feathering.
Some have sort of "chopped off" short heavy wings and no tails, and the others have long wings near to their tails and tails sticking up.
GOT to be a reason they are so different. Anyone know why is the difference in the sexes???
Thanks for the help!
