*Buff Orpington Thread!*

The BR was supposed to be less than a year I believe. She was laying until about two weeks ago. The BO was from another seller. This seller was their second owner, who said the first owner said they were under a year old three months ago. They think she was laying a while ago. But none of them are laying now.

I am really enjoying them. They have great personalities.

Did they give any indication of how old they might be?Now that I look at her wattles, she may actually be a younger pullet. My two BO girls are 24wks. and one just started laying, but their combs are smaller that yours, but the wattles on the one that just started is about the same size. I'm also looking at the BR in the background and she looks about the size of mine that started laying as well. Pretty girls. I'm sure you are enjoying them.
If they are "first year" then hopefully you will start to get eggs.

Do you think that mine are not laying because maybe they are older? I have not gotten an egg for about two weeks.

We have BO at my workplace (yes, chickens at work!). They are going on three years old. Will this significantly affect the egg laying? They haven't been laying much since just before summer. There are 7 hens and a beautiful roo. We are lucky if we get an egg per day.

Welcome!! If you look up Buff Orpington under Breeds, you can click on reviews to see what many BO owners have to say about them. I found it beneficial to have a mixed flock.

My BO Vera has been maturing a bit slow but heavy breeds tend to do that. So while she takes her time, I can expect eggs a little sooner from my Easter Egger who is the same age. I am happy I bought chicks last spring and then again in September bc the older hens egg production slows down when they approach a year old, and the new ones will be ready to pick up the slack!

I love having mix flocks but I am ordering with some people so I am only getting five so I'm still thinking about a mix flock thx for your help
