*Buff Orpington Thread!*

It was good luck I decided to check on her. I assumed she'd follow the larger hen in at night but thought maybe she's the one who didn't let her in lol.
They will figure it out. Probably already becoming good pals

It sounds like you are doing everything right, sometimes when they start laying, they just start off with weird eggs. I would guess they will be normal in about a week or less.
Thank you!! Today she laid her 1st OFFICIAL egg:D it's so pretty.
She got her special treat and has her band now.

Well Happy 2 month anniversary to Lulu who has officially called our house home for that long. I believe at this point Lulu has lived with us longer than anywhere else.

Still no eggs. Still no crowing.

I do have a question. I went to the feed store that someone recommended near my home and they told me that I should not get another chicken because it would make this one nicer. That sounds like crap to me as I have only ever heard I need 2 more (which trust me in the twin cities area I'm not having the best luck finding).

Any truth to that? (The lady I was talking to also told me she only ever calls chicken dinner)

Also there was some hilarity... Lulu does not appreciate being on a leash.....

So supposedly having a single chicken makes it nicer (exactly what did she mean by "nice")? It may make it more needy and possibly "people friendly" since you (their keeper) would be their only source of a "flock". But I think chickens are much happier with other chickens.

Having at least 3 IMO is best. If one were to get ill and die, then you don't have a lone chicken.
