My BO has gone broody. Here she's just puffing up into Turkey Mom. She's so funny.

Are buff roosters friendly?
I'm new to chickens, I got 8 last april, and had to give away a roo, so I'm looking for friendly roosters

Just a note - @CuzChickens and @jarcoo0153 have the chicks - but they are sweet!

@Rosa Mystica it depends on what you are calling "friendly" (?) Any breed has the potential of being aggressive and/or friendly. That said, my BO rooster is fairly docile, gentle, non-human aggressive and treats the girls pretty good. He is not a pet, but will take treats from your hand and I can take him from the roost, inspect/handle him as needed.

I like the name Buttercup. She is lovely! I think I will always have BO's in my flock, they are wonderful to be around.

Thanks! I love BO's, buttercup will follow me around and is really friendly. I just started free ranging my flock, so I'd like the added security benefits of a rooster. I think if I raise one from a chicken it'll be friendly, but you can never tell! :)

This is our boy! We hatched him in an incubator in May 2016 he is a very funny character andvwe now have 4 of his babies! We always thought he was a she so his nameis Annie. We didn't have the heart to change it when he started crowing as he knew that was him.

They do get big! But mine is I guess what you would call "friendly". If you are wanting one for security, they will help watch the skies and surrounding areas for threats and alert the flock. A rooster can only do so much, so having some safe places and being vigilant will help as well.
