*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Came home and checked on her again. Still laying around or limping, not even bouncy when I shook treat at her cage. Her left leg is swollen and warm. I took off her leg band as it seemed tight. I'll check on her in the morning and update
Thank you for your kind words and guidance.
How is she doing today?
Was she a "rescue" when you got her?

Laying around and not bouncy is no good. Since the leg is swollen, check it carefully to see if there is any cuts, bruises, etc. Bottom of the foot and up the thigh under the feathers. Do you think she may have fallen or jumped from a roost? BO's are fairly heavy and can have leg injury from these sorts of activities.

Keep us posted.

checked her 15mmin ago. Moving around more, still a little limpy/ not up all the way. She did love her scratch.
We got her at the poultry show in November. Not knowing what to look for, she had her eyes pecked on before and one was half shut. She's the largest girl we've got, skittish. Not sure about humans or anything else. Gave her the spa treatment to clean her up, horribly matted by her vent. We know she sees as we watch her focus and follow us around. Fxing another few days will get her 100%

Our boy was a hero today. I heard a terrible fuss out in the coop, so I ran outside....only to see the latch on the run open, Skipper outside in the yard with blood all over the back of his neck, and a raccoon screaming its way across the street. So I grabbed him, checked the girls (they're all fine, just scared), shut the door and wired it closed. He got a bath....the monster tore off a chunk of his comb.

He's clean and has blu kote on it now. He's in a diaper and is hanging out on my lap watching the Big Bang Theory. He earned cuddle time....and an extra special supper. Only a year old, and I swear he's the best rooster I've ever met.

That's a good rooster. Often you don't know which you have until they prove their worth, glad he's okay. Be careful sometimes they get a bit hyped up after something like that.
