*Buff Orpington Thread!*

chickens are one of the easiest to care for farm animals..that being said..they do have care requirements..clean water..lice dusting, worming, clean quarters..grazing pastures that are predator proof..clean non moldy feeds..plus more..it gets even more involved if you decide to show..you have to think ahead..dont hatch a hundred chicks if you dont want that extra work..and what will you do with xtra roosters...roosters have to be managed..

Yes, definately don't have more than say about 1 rooster for every 6-10 girls. And be sure everyone has tons of room.

As for being scared of you, some are just friendlier than others. Some like to take the babies in like the bathroom and feed them wet food from their hands while sitting on the floor. Since it's a bathroom, poo and messes can easily be cleaned up and it's a small space so they can't just run everywhere. If you soak the food so it's a gooey paste, for some reason most of them LOVE it.

Here's one of mine. I knew that was a boy by the time he was two weeks old. He's 6 weeks I think in this picture

mine are 13 weeks old and one is about that size and the other is about twice that size lol. dolly (the smaller one) keeps trying to chest bump jackie (bigger) and is like ok yeah no lol.

I got my baby pullets for my birthday this year, they're almost 4 weeks!
My Husband and Daughter got them for me and I just LOVE them so much! :D
Very sweet little chicks! Love to be loved on and really like sitting on my shoulders and lap.
All I need is a baby boy now but would like my rooster from a breeder and preferably their age.
Does anyone know of a Buff Orpington breeder in Central California (inland)??
Any info will help :) please and thank you
