*Buff Orpington Thread!*

( i don't have any roosters) miss puffy actually isn't the one that tries to go broody! It's my Dominique, puddles!

Early this morning at 12:18 AM, we lost our beloved Peanut. She was only 13 months old and up until a few days ago had always been the picture of health. We suspect internal laying problems but will have the cause of death confirmed with a necropsy. We have only been keeping chickens a little over a year and she was one of our original Buffs. I am so grateful to her for everything she taught us and how much love she gave us everyday. We could not have asked for a more precious chicken.

R.I.P. my sweet Peanut. We will miss you terribly baby girl and even though you are no longer with us, I will always be Peanut's Momma.

Peanut at 2 weeks

Thank you smudge, you are very kind.

That is so sad omg!! I was admiring how cute she was before reading the story, now I'm gonna cry! Sweet peanut she looks so happy! It's scary how quickly they can get sick!

You are so right sphinxface. She was head chicken so she was always busy keeping everyone in line and up until 48 hrs before she passed she didn't show any signs of being ill. As a matter off fact the night before she started showing signs of her illness, she was busy teaching our rooster a lesson in who gets on the roost first. She scared him so badly that he ran out of the coop! LOL! The next morning she was walking like she was a 100 yrs old. In retrospect, she probably felt bad that night she put our roo in his place but wasn't showing it to me and had no patience with his young rooster foolishness. She was something. I miss her deeply.

My Buff orp and her daughter Coco were sharing 3 duck eggs. All 3 hatched yesterday and over night they came under attack from rats that killed two of the babies :(. It's such a shame because if Orp could see she would have taken their eyes out as she is really aggressive when broody. They're left with this little baby now
