*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Thanks, but:

Well the rats managed to get in and take my last duckling. I honestly hate them things. Despite their being poison and traps set, they still got the little baby. They've completely destroyed two of my sheds, both I can't afford to replace. They've left me with one shed which they're working on. Got the first time in ages, I literally don't know what I'm going to do.

Trust Bella to not only lay on the floor, but also block the pop hole so no one else can get in to make use of the nest boxes!

I have a question for those of you who raise BOs. We ordered turkeys earlier this year and got a surprise of 19 Buff Orpington chicks as packing peanuts. Ideal Hatchery told us they were all males. We started them on the same feed as the turkeys which is 30% protein. They are now 11 weeks old and growing fine.

Needless to say, we don't need 17 roosters (one turns out to be a pullet). So, when is a good time to harvest these up and coming noise makers? Also, will the 30% feed do them any harm as they mature?

We will add the pullet to our flock of other hens.

Thanks

She wanted a view.
I understand. I imagine it is a lonely job. Is she going broody yet, because that's going to awkward.
Nope, she's not broody yet. Kind of hoping she will give it a miss as she got a baby last year and I want others to get the chance this year!
