I have just started getting eggs from my girls, but I have 7 hens, why am I only getting 2 eggs/day?

All of them might not be laying yet. They increase egg production and size of eggs as they get older

Ok. I got them all the same day from the same person...was told they were all the same age. Thanks for your reply.

Yea some of my buffs started laying a few weeks before the others. They were all the same age when I got them. For my chickens their combs became really red and grew a lot right before they started laying.

Hello,
Been a member for a few months, have not posted much.
I have several BO's that are just starting to lay (HOORAY!!) I am looking to expand my flock and am looking to add more BO and possibly some Australorp.
Do any of you have the two breeds together and how do they get along?

I just got 6 Australorps to go with my Buffs! They seem like a very similar breed in regards to temperment. I can't wait to see them together!

I have a very small flock (4 pullets). I have a 23 week old Black Australorp, 23 wk Golden-laced Wynadotte, 16 wk Buff Orpington, and a 16 wk Red Sex Link. They all get along beautifully. Hoping the bigger girls start laying soon.
