I just got 6 Australorps to go with my Buffs! They seem like a very similar breed in regards to temperment. I can't wait to see them together!
Did you know that black Australorps actually are mixed with black orpingtons and some other breeds!

Yea some of my buffs started laying a few weeks before the others. They were all the same age when I got them. For my chickens their combs became really red and grew a lot right before they started laying.
I didn't before today! I read that earlier. I love my buffs so that's totally fine with me!Did you know that black Australorps actually are mixed with black orpingtons and some other breeds!

Hello Buff Orpington fans!
I am a newbie!
I got 2 sexed Buff Orpington pullets from a place that got them from Ideal.
Hatch date was 9/16/2015 and I bought them very shortly after that. One has very white legs and the other very yellow--does that mean anything? Is either considered more to standard? (although I now know that I should have looked for a breeder instead of hatchery stock.)
Attached is a picture that shows one of them.
That is Daffodil with the yellow legs on the right. (I am looking for a good home for my little barred rock 'roo--who was supposed to be a girl!)
