*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Ok so these are my first chickens and I've been fairly accurate so far but these guys have me thrown off... I have two supposed pullets, 7 weeks ish? I got so many from different weeks it's hard to remember. They both have such short and fluffy tails, one more fluffy than the other but both have such small light combs. Both seem to get after it and "charge" with the other Roos but maybe they are being sucked into the behavior I'm not sure... I'm hoping it's just the breed that's throwing me off

Fingers crossed for pullets.

Sorry there's no real comb shots, I'm sure I'm not the only one who knows how hard it is to get good pictures by yourself

I am by far no expert on chickens. My oldest girls are 20 weeks and they are my first experience but I did have 3 BO's and one was a boy. I am wishing you the best, however, the one on the left looks alot like my boy but he crowed around 4 or 5 weeks old so I rehomed him the next week. My girls comb and wattles did not come in that quickly by 10 weeks. They looked more like your pullet on the right. Without a crow, it is really hard to tell with many breeds but you can wait it out or rehome soon. I had to rehome 2 of my very favorite (different breed) and it broke my heart because they were 18 weeks and everyone said they were pullets but they kept making crowing noises so I had to rehome due to restrictions in my neighborhood so I'll never really know if they are laying eggs now or waking people up at the crack of dawn but I don't fret over it anymore because I enjoy the ones I have now. Good luck

I'm lucky - the area I live in has no restrictions on roosters or chickens - I live in the depths of the country side surrounded by farmland, so if he/she turns out to be a he, he can stay with me!

Anyone ever see a buff Orpington with ear muffs? My pullet is about 11 weeks old. All of a sudden she started getting real fluffy by the ears. I have no recent shot of her (she is camera shy) but this picture is about 2 weeks ago.

You are welcome!

String cheese, never thought of that!
oh MY!! You must try this. It works wonders. Today was unfortunately a short outside time but didn't even open cheese until last 6. I shook cheese and they ran to me while I said magic words, I grabbed them then gave to kids until one easter Egger was left. 3 chicks were together (haha 2 EE and 1 bm) I scooped them up before they knew what was happening.

I trained mine by mistake to come when I call, "cheese, cheese, cheese!" :)
