They look like ROOs. But nice form and size.

The two roosters are right up front with three hens behind them. I found it interesting that they were all together as they don't usually hang out with each other, but we we working on their shed, so the noise drove most of the chickens out.

Noise and such don't usually bother mine, but they can get all riled up over some of the nuttiest things. I brooded my flock in the coop, we were still adding things here and there while they were still just a few days old. The workshop and wood shed are right next to their run, so air compressor, tractor, log splitter, sawing, nailing, etc., doesn't even phase them. The other day I was doing some work, making all kinds of racket didn't bat an eye, moved the ladder further over and they all went insane. Silly things.

The Ancona usually hangs with some of the orps, she probably was wondering what was going on without her.

My chickens run from anything that involves my husband, he well known as the one who culls, so they run whenever he's around. He also does the cleaning too, and isn't shy about shagging hens out of the nestboxes. What can I do? He's free help.

So I am curios. Do you breed Buff Orp's with only other Buff Orps or do you let them mix with other breeds?
I think I see a Barred Rock in one of the photos.

I have them all in together, but when I breed them, I separate the hens for a few days to make sure there is no remains from another rooster, then I put in my buff rooster, and get pure breed eggs, then I put them back in all together. And that is a Silver Laced Wyandotte, not a Barred rock, I do not currently own Barred Rocks.

That's cool. That's what I do - I try to keep the breeds separate. But everyone else that I know, that has chickens around here, lets them all hang out (and breed) together. I guess they are trying to Landrace breed their chickens, which is cool and all, but I don't know many of them that are keeping up with who or what went into the formation of their newest chicks.

well from my understanding and I if I am wrong sure someone will correct me, 1 breeding can produce fertilized eggs for about 2 weeks.

gonna have to brush up on stuff again, and coffee wore off an few hours ago should be in bed lol. But I've ended up with chicks that actually looked like both roosters we have. by the way our flock free ranges.
