*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Congrats on the youngsters first egg! They are so exciting though aren't they?

I know it is time to let my girls hatch out some chicks, the girls are not earning their feed any more... but they still make pretty good chickens for chickens sake. They are lawn ornaments I guess. I know I should can them, but... you know. I'm pretty soft. How long do they live 20 22 years? I'm doomed. I have 18 of them and two eggs a day.

Johnn, are her feet black or was she playing in the mud? 'Cause if they're black she's got to have something other than just Orpington in her, Orps have pink/white skin. One of my original hatchery girls had deep yellow legs so I knew she was all or part Buff Rock...
nope her feet are not black, she just chose to run through the bog instead of walking around it....

Hi, I have a little 7-week-old Buff Orpington pullet that is half the size of my other chicks of the same age. I thought they were supposed to be a big breed. Do they normally start out small?

She was sick for about a week when we first got her, but she's been a healthy and very active little chick since then. She's constantly running underneath the other chicks and stealing their food. It cracks me up! I'm just wondering if she will eventually 'catch up' in size.

Just bought these buffs Saturday. Was told they were hatched the first of June. When could I expect them to lay their first egg.
