Except for my grandson, Kale, I have no idea what we have back here!

...although I did read a thread somewhere about submissive posturing, and a couple of mine do that, so maybe we'll be finding eggs soon.

... and wouldn't you know, this is the one that has decided to be my lap buddy.

(sorry I mis-posted this ... it should probably be in the breed or gender forum)

Are they laying somewhere besides your coop? When they first start you'll end up with eggs all over the place. Lots of tiny ones- and lots of double-yolkers. I kept mine in their coop/yard until they were almost a year (no mama hen to teach them) I was finding eggs in the strangest places until they got the hang of it.

I moved it for you.

Can you get a closer pic of them in the yard? I don't see any "roos" jumping out in that pic, but a closer one would help to confirm.

Your closeup pic looks like a girl.

My buffs are notorious for bush hiding eggs. Put some fake eggs or golf balls in the nest to hopefully convince them where the eggs go.

Oh thanks! The golf balls have been there since day one... maybe I should switch them out for eggs. I will try to get a better pic ... they all come running when I go outside but by the time I get the camera ready they are underfoot!

Still not really close up, but best I can do for now:

...and here are the other 3, hanging out under the picnic table:

I'll have to get Kale back sometime; easier to get pics when they are interested in someone else!

OH I sure hope so! It was kind of funny when my grandson ran into the yard this weekend. He stopped dead in his tracks and said "Nana, you got a rooster! He's not a chicken anymore!"
