So everything I've read about the Orpington sounds great (docile, good layers etc). But I'm concerned about the orpington's ability to forage. Is it really that bad? Our greyish/bluish hen, cuckoo maran and speckled Sussex are really good at it.

I don't think I have had any chickens who are really bad foragers. My Buff Orpington is out there scratching and pecking with all the other breed of chicken I have. She was just trying to get out of the run so she could explore and forage new areas.

we have some buff orpingtons that are just over 4 weeks old they already scratch and look for food. they are excellent foragers.
