Buff Orpingtons Chicks

I wrote to the local hatchery about my concerns-He got a little defensive. Said he had not White Rocks or Rocks of any kind, That they were Orpingtons. But He is also where I got my sex-link Black Star from.

He did tell me he would trade out the two males.

He has my pair of Columbine Wynadottes- he was going to use to start a line. He was going to get a stash of fertile eggs, I get the hen back and he keeps the rooster(we can't have Roos).
Before taking her there I was getting 5-6 eggs a week, she has been ther a month and has only 5 egg(only 4 fertile). I don't think he was feeeding her right.

He may not be a reputable hatchery more like a chick mill.

you didnt know they were going to do that. I got my chicks from a Hatchery too. I orded from McMurray. I love my chicks, they are very relaxing to watch. I cant wait till they start laying, but it will be in July sometime before I can start expecting eggs.

The hatchery was local. The hatchery took the little roo back, and gave me 2 Buff Orpingtons (which look just like Ruthanne's picture of her Buff O.). He was using my Columbine Wynadotte Hen, to add some "new" blood to his Wynadotte line. When we there(to trade and pick up my girl) he had a bunch of White Leghorns(hens & roos) running around, that looked a whole like the roo and the two white girls I have here.

I will not be recommending River Bottom Hatchery of Fort Worth to anyone. The condition I got my Wyandotte back was bad, I expected some loss of feathers from the roo mounting her. But that was fine, It was the dirtyness, fleas & mites that got me. Of course the 3 were given baths, and are being keep away from my other girls. I don't know if my wynadotte will ever be white again. She still looks dirty.
