Hey,
Does anyone have any previous experience with Buff orps. I've researched that they are big birds that are quiet. Is this true? Any other Pros and Cons? Thanks!

They are big- nice and fluffy! They lay regularly and are as quiet as any chicken... They seemed to take to our cold winter, and snow very well. Better than my RIR's. They are a heavy, lovely bird. I highly recommend them.

well, I love Orpingtons of any color. I love exhibition-type Orpingtons, they are just huge gorgeous things!
but even hatchery type orps have their pros...great egg makers!

you should get them. they are nice, gentle, great layers, and very pretty.

They are one of the more social chicken breeds in my flock. The hens will follow me around more often than the others. I also have a couple of buff orp. roosters who are friendly, one of them really likes to be picked up.

Got my first buff Orpingtons 1959 . 25 chicks shipped to Michigan from a hatchery in Mo. I love then as much now as I did when I received them from the mailman in 1959.

Got mine from a breeder here a BYC member, one of the best layers and the rooster's are great. The males weight 9-11 lb. Great Dual P.brids.

I love our buff orps. They make good egg layers and meat birds, and are self sustainable - able to breed naturally, raise their own broods and excellent personalities. If I ever go back to just one breed or variety, it would be the buff orps.
