Hello,

I'd need some help choosing my breeding flock, I bought some fertile eggs a while back and now that the chicks are about 3 months old. I plan breeding some once I add another line in the flock. My problem is that even if they do come from a reputated breeder some have yellow legs , some have white legs, and some crooked toes (like if there was no bone inside). Like I mentioned I want to breed quality buff orps and I do have chicks that have white legs and sound toes, now will these birds still pass a trait of yellow legs even though both parents have white feet ? What could of caused those crooked toes....?

Thanks...

the Could produce yellow shank because the white shank will mask the presence of the yellow shanks, But that is only if both parents are hiding this trait, now if both or One parent is homozygous(having to copies of the white shanks) then all of the chicks will have white shanks
