This is my first post to the forums.

I have six chicks; about a month old. All are supposed to be Buff Rocks, but pictured below is my sweet odd ball. He/she has no tail (the others have 2+ inch tail feathers), is larger than the other five and is slightly darker than the darkest of the other Buff. The body size difference between this one and the others is starting to even out a bit, but not the foot size. His/Her wattles are now becoming larger and red (well, at least one, so far) whereas the others have none. Most of this leads me to believe that this is a male but the lack of tail is still a bit confusing. I'm not even sure this is a Buff Rocks chick. Any ideas? Thanks! (No worries about the cat; he's scared of the chicks!)

Boy! Why I say that is-

-Large comb for 4 weeks
-I see waddles!
-Late tail feathering
-Seeing the start of pointy saddle feathers

Pointy saddle feathers don't start growing until after 10 weeks old, and they usually aren't visible until 12 weeks.
The chick in question is a cockerel, but not because of the feathering, it's because of the pink comb.

You have all confirmed my suspicions. Thank you very much. Now I just have to figure out whether to keep him or not. So far, he's incredibly sweet...my favourite in fact. Loves his belly rubbed and sitting on my hand/arm.
