Jody! The silkie eggs you sent me have hatched! I have eight new beautiful babies! Thank you so much for sending the eggs! So out of the 16 eggs 8 hatched and one stopped developing around day 15. Pretty good rates for shipped eggs if you ask me. The babies started pipping Saturday late and finished late Sunday night! There are two that have big big vaulted skulls. I'm so excited! I'll post pics as soon as I get my computer at home fixed (I'm at work)
On a side note, I changed my brooder to one without the holes drilled in the side and added a hundred watt bulb and everyone is doing great. I think that it was to cold and drafty in the other brooder that I had made and the babies were dying from being to cold and chilled. I've overheated and killed chicks so i think that I was being overly cautious and ended up killing them by not providing enough heat.
