What is the biggest difference between buff and partridge silkies when talking non show quality. It seems that when I search for buff ones, they are all peachy buff colored, and when I search for partridge, they are a darker orange with red and black in them.

I am looking for an orange buff colored silkie that has a bit of black in his tail. I wanted to post a picture of the color I wanted but my pictures are all at school. So I have to do it when I get back.

What's better off, ordering buff or partridge silkies if I don't want the fluffy cream colored birds that are show quality?

For now these are from feathersite, they have them both listed as buff, but the rooster looks more red?

Here is one of my culls. Wish you were lived near you could come and get him or another one I have.

Yeah! You hit it right on with that. I want a bunch that look like your cull! Even a tad more black and a bit darker would fit my desires. So what color is he then? A buff cull? Do you think that if I order 10 from a hatchery, I could get ones that look like your cull? I'm eyeing Ideal.

I'm not sure about what you would get from a hatchery. He is great other than his topknot is not wide enough to suit me. He is not from Hatchery birds and he is a buff. This is another one that has a great topknot and comb, good toe spacing but I don't the feathering on the inside of the legs. I hatched this one from shipped eggs. Another Buff

Hmm, maybe i should get half buff and half partridge so I can make chickens that look like my poor peep peep again. Might just be dreaming though. LOL. I'll go for buffs and hope to get some poor quality birds with dark coloring, black streaks, and lightly feathered feet, with small crests.

Gidday, Im trying to create my partridges by placing my red roo over my buffs then placing him over the offspring hens.
Hope that makes sense, in other words, he is servicing his daughters!!!
So far Ive only managed 1 partridge and He is a roo with only 4 toes!!darn!

Hi Silkychicken, does that mean that I can possibly keep him? I dont want any more 4 toed silkies running around as I wish to show the offspring!
Has anyone else produced a 4 toed silky who has produced 5 toed offspring?
Hoping for good news!

This is Gourdie and Pumpkin. She is darker then the picture shows. I hope to breed them. They both have black in their tails and wings. I got them from Ideal.
