Is buff used to describe the bird as a large breed or does it describe the beige color of the chicken?

I dunno Ridgerunner. My Buff Orpington Rooster is pretty Buff. You should see the hens flock to him when he comes through the barnyard.

But for the OP's question, Buff when describing a chicken refers to color, not size.
