Buffalo Gnats are bad this year in Illinios. So far I have lost 6 chicks yesterday. I have done searches for an answer to this problem. This is what I have come up with, try to keep your animals in a dark place, the gnats like the sun light. Put a fan in your coop to keep the air moving. If possible let them free range. Some people put vanilla on their animals, chickens around their face and waddle. The gnats for some reason don't like vanilla. I am going to try all of these ideas. If anyone has anymore ideas I would really appreciate them. I hope this helps someone because, I dont like losing animals.

Wish it were under happier circumstances. Good luck in the battle with the gnats, I hear they are really horrible monsters.
