Bugs in ducks feathers

That's all in wild fowl?
How about domestic 'backyard' ducks, are they as common as bugs on chickens?
I only have a few ducks and I’ve never seen any bugs of any kind on them. The lice on wild ducks are huge compared to what you see on chickens. They look like mini scorpions or something. The first time I saw them many years ago when cleaning a duck it freaked me out a little. They’re big enough you can easily see and feel them crawl across your hands. They’re fast too tunneling back into the feathers.

No usually if given bathing water. When we had mites on our chickens none of my water fowl had them.

That's interesting about diving ducks having bugs though maybe some bugs have learned to hold their breath?
The oil and feathers prevents them from even getting wet once the bugs tunnel down deeper in the feathers.

From what I’ve been told by my husband during a meltdown. Is that birds get bugs and that’s part of why they preen. He said my birds were not dirty or bad. Btw. My birds had no bugs. I just worried they would get them from the grass. So. Although I wouldn’t eat duck I’m thinking it was ok for you. Just don’t you dare come to north west PA. Lol
