Bugs on my chickens

Probably lice or feather mites. Not a problem on slaughtered chickens, however, the live ones will appreciate getting rid of them. I dust my chickens with Diatomatous Earth or DE. It is a natural product the kills all kinds of bugs. Google it to read more. Get only food grade DE. You can also get different kinds of pesticides for chickens. If they are badly infested, you will need to clean your coop as well as treat the birds. The nice thing about DE is you can sprinkle in the floor, in the nest boxes then put bedding in, as well as dust the birds. I make a dust bathing area for mine using sand, dirt and DE, that way the can cont. to treat themselves! You'll need to concentrate whatever you use under the wings and around the vent. That's where the little buggers breed. The adults I've seen tend to hang out on the neck as well.
