Bugs on my pekin

Hi guys,
I noticed the other day my male pekin has some small bugs on the outside of his feathers on his chest and tummy. He sits around on the grass and goes in the dam and in the past there hasn’t been anything. We have recently had over 300mm of rain in the past week and that’s when I noticed it. I’m just hoping it isn’t anything serious and wondering if I need to get spray for him.

Hmmm kinda hard to tell from picturs but it almost looks like a tick? Probably way too small though. Are there bugs when you part the feathers and look at the skin in different places on his body? Do you have any other birds? Does he swim often?

Thankyou for your response. Nah there doesn’t seem to be other bugs under the feathers. They aren’t burrowing they seem to be just staying on the top of his feathers. My other duck doesn’t have any that I can see which is weird because they swim and sleep together. Yes he regularly swims in the pond but he hasn’t had them before.

If these are mites they are the biggest I have ever seen I have used Poultry protector before it's safe and effective. You have ruled out ticks? When I zoomed in it kind of reminded me of a tick.

Those look kind of like seed ticks. What state are you in? When I lived in Tennessee, the seed ticks would swarm at certain times of the year and get all over anything with a pulse.

Thanks for all your responses, greatly appreciated . I applied pestene powder on him the other day and the coop aall and they seem to be gone.
