Hi Everyone,

I'm going to be building a Breeding Tractor for 4 Large Birds (Jersey Giants) to separate them from my layers. All the birds are fairly docile, and while I don't have a whole heck of a lot of space or money to pull this off, I do want them to be comfortable. What's the minimum size you would consider acceptable for both the coop and the run?

Thanks in advance -- i'll update this thread with pics as we go along :)

4x10 run and 4x2 run. make them as separate units because that will be moved one after the other. Make the house from 2x1 and 2x2 lumber with plywood to keep it light. Make the run from 2x2. It might seem like a minor issue but unless you have a quad or similar to move the tractor the hens won't be moved as often as they need to be.

thanks!

my mcgyver hubby got started w/o talking to me first, so i guess I get what i'm given and if its too small (which I think it will be), I will just rotate hens and it will otherwise be the bachelor pad.

Here is the beginnings of the tractor hubby made.. very simple concept. Not what I had in mind, but I'll take what I can get I guess. Maybe next time he'll wait for me to get home before starting to build it, lol.
