Just wanted to share some photos of our coop build progress - this will be for our meat chickens. 8x8 floor, 12x24 run, 7’ to 6’ sloped roof, will have a person door, chicken door, and a separate enclosed area both inside and out for young chicks (we plan to buy them in bulk until we can get a breeding program figured out). Will add water catchment and a solar system for lighting.

Welcome to any suggestions or features people can’t live without!

😊

Oooh, good luck on your build! :clap

Nice roof overhang!
What's the roofing material, can't quite tell from pics.
Will you be adding some windows?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Oh yeah I’ll have to update that! I’m in the PNW (rainy side) so off the ground is a must.

The roofing material is remnant tyvex that my husband had haha and some corrugated polycarbonate we got from someone he contracted with. We rent our property so weren’t sure how much we wanted to spend on the whole thing. So far it’s been a $75 farm bundle of reject/returned wood and 6 sheets of plywood, mess up outdoor paint (blue), and some left over decking paint to seal the bottom. We are industrious 🤣

No windows but there are big vents at the top east-west and small vents north-south for ventilation. We will put clear sheeting over part of the big vents until it’s warmer/chicks are bigger. They will have access to the run during daylight hours and there is a skylight 3’x8’ 😁
