Hey, i'm new to BYC. I know this question is likely all over here somewhere, but until I figure out/spend the time searching for it....My husband is going to build us a chicken coop. I have some friends who have a coop where theres a door to the coop, which isn't exactly into the coop. It's into an area (small) with some shelving, the feed, and access to the nesting box to get the eggs. And then there's another door which opens up to the chickens, the coop itself. My husband doesn't think it's necessary to have the two part entrance way, while I think it is!
any advice? Does anyone have a coop which is designed this way? (I hope you can understand what I mean!) Or do you think it's necessary?
We live in Montana, so the winters get cold so I thought that seperate area would help keep the heat in for the chickens themselves!
Thanks, and am looking forward to any input, advice and learning more and more!

I think I know what you're describing... Has it got a small door at the back, for egg collecting etc? And another door that the hens use? The smaller back door would be handy for collecting eggs etc, especially if you have an attached run that the chickens' door opens into. I'm only guessing here though! Pics would be great
