How do u keep the mud out?? I live in Washington and its constantly raining!
You could always put a tarp over the top of the hoop coop to keep water out. I plan to wrap this coop up with contractor plastic for the winter to keep the snow off

Very nice!only thing worrisome is where the gate is looks like a mink could easily slip in there. They are suppose to be able to get through 1" openings.![]()
Google mink, I wasn't aware we had them in western NC till I started keeping ducks.I looked up ever pred common to NC and yep mink came up. weasel too.Fortunately we don't have wild mink in TN that I am aware of. The gate is left over from my extensive dog kennel fencing was the easiest route for us to put a gate on it. LOL We do have hardwarec cloth overlapping the edges of the gate on the bottom and the sides. Keep in mind that the duck house/enclosure is also inside a fenced area, with hotwire around the perimeter and our "guard" collie on duty at night![]()
okay wheres the pic? lol you did good, it's always best to have an idea what you want and not skimp on material, gotta keep those ducks/turkeys safe. When we built our houses, we were amazed at how many friends offered things to us, free window, some metal roofing, lumber it was such a blessing and saved us alot of money, as anyone knows just buying hardware cloth is expensive. I keep dreaming about a barnThanks Miss Lydia! I studied designs, and houses here on BYC for a month before deciding how and what to build. The hoop coop was a bit of a challenge but turned out to be ideal once finished. Since the completion of the chicken coop and duck coop, we pushed an easy button and bought a pre-made greenhouse on clearance from TSC and set the turkeys up in their own deluxe house LOL Its so addictive >.<
The greenhouse was on clearance one day when we buzzed through TSC http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/sto...n-greenhouse-78-3-4-in-l-x-118-in-h-x-84-in-wThose look great. Thank u for sharing. Im in Washington..state. gets cold, biggest thing is the freezing rain.

Ya'll have done a great job, and to take the green house and make it a safe house for your turkeys is really interesting. Just goes to show ya with some imagination you can use so many different things for housing. How does the tarp and plastic hold up to the weather do you have to change out 1x a year? We found some windows at Habitat resale also that is a good place to look for things. Love your chicken coop too. Thanks to Wild and the camera here are the requested picsThe greenhouse was on clearance one day when we buzzed through TSC http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/sto...n-greenhouse-78-3-4-in-l-x-118-in-h-x-84-in-w
I bought 2 >.< As stated, the bottom half of the greenhouse has hardware cloth with a one foot apron. The door was purchased at Habitat Restore for $20 (If I remember right) so the entire thing was less than $100. We have the greenhouse plastic rolled up for ventilation while its nice and warm, will drop it to the ground once it gets colder to keep out drafts. It still has vents built into the top, for ventilation.
PS. Glimpse of "guard collie" in one of the pics lol.
