Building a duck house

They are finally here! The post office called me at 7:30 this morning and we went to pick them up. They all arrived in good shape and are much more active than I ever remember chicks being. Now we need to get to work on that duck house!

Hooray! Glad they all arrived healthy! If you find good plans for a duck house, post it here. I'm trying to figure out what to build with just pallets as building materials.

The duck house is coming along nicely. Here is what I have done so far.
400

I will post more pictures once we are finished. The little guys are now as tall as the sides of the dog kennel they are in. I can't get over how fast they are growing!

Wow, wow. Brilliant duck shelter!

I want to mention - I may have confused you with the photo, and then description of the pen. The photo is their first shelter, but we moved them into the basement pen that first winter due to temperatures - I could not keep the little outdoor house warm enough. So much of my description is of their walkout basement pen (I converted part of the basement to a barn, essentially).

And I don't see where I mentioned that the bottom of the pen area is covered with coated chain link, attached at the edges of the vertical fence, to prevent predators from digging under and up into the pen.

My daughter wanted ducks so we bought 2, now to get the pen together that will be safe from predators!
