Building a mini coop.(Pics. Added Mar. 15)

Cruiser, I love the mini coop. What are the dimensions?? I need to build (DH) a 4 by 6 coop for some columbian rock bantams I'm getting and want to make it on wheels. I am going to need big wheels and will have to build it as light as possible. I've been telling him it should be built with 2 by 2s and I want a plastic corrugated roof with hardware cloth underneath for safety. He says we have shingles (did our roof in 2006) and the extra plywood & shingles will be OK. Time will tell. Nice job!

You savvy chick!!! i went to the link on EBay and, at first, saw the really expensive weathervanes. You got a GREAT DEAL!!!

I want one, too, now!!!!!!!!

I scored 45 feet of 2 foot high 1/2" hardware cloth for $28. That like $80 worth!! I also get 2 gal. of paint that was regular $29 for $7. To say the least I was tickled.

Cruiser, I am modeling my coop after yours pretty much. I see from your first set of pics you have one truss installed. How in this world did you figure out at what angle to cut your boards, and how do you know at what length to cut each board. I am using 2x4's, I am using footers as well. So my frame pieces should be about 4' from outside to outside when I get them up.

(1) I just drew my dimensions out on a piece of sheeting. Wall height & peak height at center & drew a line to meet the two. Then set your protractor to that angle. Then I knew what angle to set my miter saw.

(2) Once you have done the above you can just measure your lines to know the lengths to cut your boards.

There is probably a better way of doing it but this worked for me.

Mine is almost done. I will put the second coat of paint on tomorrow & install my trim pieces & it will be done. Well all except the run portion.

Here it is with second coat of paint.
All i need to do now is put the roof on. Put up the trim. Make a gate for the run & fence in the bottom.
