Building an incubator

I'm building an incubator and I am not sure what light kit To get! Could someone go on the home depot or walmart site and give me a product number so I can look it up? I'm just not sure what will give me Enough heat output! Please help! Also what water heater thermostat should I get?

i have a lamp like thisone but i have 2 71watt bulb in it for a 24"x24"30" cabinet i converted from an old toy box.

The light fixture itself isn't what's going to give you your heat. It the light wattage. Depending on the size of the cooler/box you're using will determine what wattage you need. I'm using a 40 watt bulb and that seems to keep things closer to the temp that I need. I found a candelabra kit at Home Depot for about 5 bucks that works perfectly for me. Very simple set up.

Most everyone uses the lower water heater thermostat for their homemade bator. Hindsight 20/20....if I had know then what I know now...I would have purchased an ether wafer thermostat online to build my bator. Much more sensitive.
