Building chicken run, want to clarify wire choices b4 I start

I am building my chicken run. I am planning on making an 18 inch, 19 guage galvanized hardware cloth apron, 1/2 inch, and running the same cloth on the bottom 3 feet of the run. I would like to use a sturdy but less expensive material for the top 3 feet of the wall and the ceiling area. What are my best choices?

2" x 4" welded wire fencing will keep most other critters out except smaller birds.
Could cover the 2x4 fencing with chicken wire to totally exclude smaller birds if needed later.

Ditto on what Aart wrote. I'm using 2 x 4 welded wire for the upper part of the walls and the roof.
