Building coop...bedding and roost questions.

Sounds great. I redid my roosts and nest box locations a month ago and love it.

In addition to the shavings, you may want to try adding wood pellets and a sprinkling of stall dry or DE.

I layer them all and then every 2-3 days, I will sprinkle more stall dry under the roosts. Keeps the deep litter fluffy, dry, and stink free.

IMHO, I would suggest either paint the floor with floor enamel or go to a flooring dealer to see if they have any cheap remnants of linoleum they want to get rid off. I got a 4'5" x 4'5" piece for $5. This will help save the floor from rot & make it much easier to clean.
