Building my first coop

Hi Everyone,

I am planning on building my first coop and have a question about insulation and sound dampening.
I know that felt is good for both of those things but would that make it too hot in the summer or would it work as a true insulator and help keep it cool?
Would it retain too much moisture?

Every coop needs good ventilation. Vents make soundproofing rather ineffective.
The birds require air circulation in order to stay healthy. In winter a poorly ventilated coop leads to frostbite on feet and combs.
In summer a poorly ventilated coop becomes an unpleasant oven.

Is there a reason you want it soundproof?

Where in the world are you located. We do not need your address. Just a general location added to your profile is enough.
Climate plays a huge part in what a coop needs to keep birds healthy.

Welcome!
Yes, having your approximate location will help here, and how many chickens do you plan to have? Space and ventilation are most important; sound proofing isn't in the cards. You can locate your coop away from the house a bit, but chickens do talk!
