My coop is almost done and I'm starting soon on the run. I've got a double dog kennel that will give me a 16' x 8' run for my 7 hens. I'm planning on covering the kennel with either chicken wire or hardware cloth. I can find 6 foot tall wire or cloth and was planning on running the 6 foot section horitzontally up the side wall of the run, over the open top, and down the other side wall. With a 16' long run, it will take me a little under three of these to completely cover the run. My question is what fastener should I use to connect the wire/cloth to the dog kennel fence? My first thought was using plastic zip ties, but I question whether it is strong enough? It seems like there should be something metal out there, but my mind is drawing a blank. Any ideas?
