It better go up fast! Weather front approaching, 2" of rain expected tonight through tomorrow, then dry again, so it will get its first big water test.
Taking pics from the deck so I don't make them nervous. Garage door space cut out, entry door is in and the window in it is square, not the retro-60's diamond (good! Like it so much better). Purlins going on for roof install-hurry, guys, clouds getting dark, wind picking up. We have a wind advisory, too, so it will get a wind test as well as a rain test. They still have the trim to do after the roof-it's a nice subdued barn/brick red, matches the other trims on the property very well and looks good with the light beige siding.
The company called to check to see if the crew was here-I told her they'd been here since early morning and were working hard, then said she might want to make note of the two tone siding issue, that they told us that ivory and light stone were the same color called by two different names, and they were putting up our bldg in one color. She said, um, no, she has them right in front of her and they definitely are two colors and we ordered a two-tone bldg, should get a two-tone bldg. I said it was not really an issue for us but someone might have a cow over it. So, she was off to talk to her office manager about it and was supposed to get back with me, though it's a moot point for us now. We didn't pay extra for it so no refund involved.



ETA: Insulation going on now, then the metal roofing will go directly on top of it.

And while I'm waiting, here are pictures of the Kindle/Nook cover I made in my Masters of Mountain View series, featuring the fabric that shows likenesses of Isaac, Rex and Deacon, sadly the last of the three to be gone soon. My Kindle Fire HD is a 7" screen and fits in there beautifully, could maybe get an 8" to fit. The pocket is a double layer flannel that you face the screen against. Has minor loopy quilting (which is how I feel right now after this last few days). Tell me, would you buy something like this for yours if the price was right?

Right here! Actually, I just put it in my Etsy shop. I can make iPad size, too, if need be. They aren't difficult, just takes a little while. And I really don't have many different flannels around, have to buy more of those if I'm going to make many of these. I'm not really one for making "stuff", not really a crafty type, but I had a need and it turned out to be easier than I thought.

I didn't know there was one of those threads. I have limited my BYC activities in recent years due to time constraints so I don't venture out of certain areas very often.


ETA: The roof is going on now. Then, they have the roll-up door and all five windows and the rest of the red trim and they're finished. I'll take pics when the windows start going on, but I'm a zombie from the last three days of being "on" all the time. I need a week of sleep, I swear. Yawn. I'm so drained, I'm queasy, had to lay down awhile. They're putting in windows now. They asked DH if he could pick up some hamburgers so they could keep working and gave him $20 to get them. Sure thing! No problem.

Next sort-of glitch: they brought the wrong windows. The ones that are standard are 30x30 and have have no divided light. The ones they brought are divided light, look more like house windows and are supposedly more expensive. Their mistake, our gain, but they had to remove a siding panel to install these since they are apparently larger/longer than the standard ones.

Winds are howling and we haven't gotten into the wind advisory period yet. They're trying to finish as fast as they can.

Thanks, I'm pleased with it overall. They have four of the five windows in place, need to get all the siding around the back ones replaced, the roll up door hung and the rest of the trim completed. They've been working non-stop, except for a 5 minute hamburger break, for 11 hours now. The work light is out and it's getting very dusky but they're pushing.

It's exciting but I'm so exhausted, I just need to sleep and maybe I can properly appreciate it. I do like the light beige with the rustic barn red trim.
