Building New Coop/Barn...Phase 5 Great Barn Build, OCCUPIED! 3/6/16

Pics
Ha! Just came back to suggest lawn tractor cart....I moved my deck build materials with mine, have loooooong tie down straps wrapped them all the way around lumbar and cart to hold them down. We used one strap at first, after a spill we used two.

@1muttsfan we've seen them, never used them, but if we can get the sheets right to the barn with the lawn cart, should be okay.

DH did the second awning, this one painted with Krylon MAXX spray paint in Almond. I got both almond and ivory but this one matches perfectly. Will have to paint the other one when I can. I did do the extension arm of it.

The awnings look great - neat and match the building. I hope they work.

Please take it easy and don't hurt yourselves!

We have a hand truck with big pneumatic tires. It's wonderful - goes over anything easily. We can get it into small areas the tractor cart can't go. I think you can rent hand trucks from places like Home Depot, etc. I bet you could find some day laborers through Home Depot also. Just my 2 cents. Around here there are certain designated areas in towns (like near train stations) where guys looking for day work hang out in the mornings and contractors or people needing help go pick them up. I know people that do this but I've never done it - the horse farm where I work has enough guys looking for work on their days off that I can actually get help at home, with guys I (kind of) trust. Just throwing a few thoughts out there.

Ditto Dat^^
Mine can be used vertically or horizontally too, handle moves, smaller hard wheels for horizontal not as forgiving of ground surface tho.

Yes, but you have to pay those guys. DH will not do it. It's enough to just buy the lumber right now. I keep telling him he has to let go and eventually pay someone else to do some jobs around here, but we have very little $$$ and have to be careful how it's spent. Supplies bought mean no $$ for someone to do anything with them.

My dad had a hand truck in his basement. That dang thing was heavier than anything you tried to move with it! Must have been made of solid iron.

The brown seeds are persimmons. Dogs will eat the fruit, too. They are naturally brown when the fruit is sweet enough to eat and don't change color in the digestive process.

I did find that out when I researched "brown seed in coyote poop" or something like that, but thank you for telling me. Welcome to my coop thread, Carla!

I used to toss ripe persimmons to the chickens. They loved the flesh of the fruit (as do mockingbirds), but the seeds are left in their litter only to sprout all over the place in the garden later. So, they don't get persimmons anymore.
