Building Our Run/Coop (with pics!) :)

The frame for the coop is UP! :D I have no idea how we managed that with two people, but we apparently overcame some laws of physics to do so.

It is seriously in need of leveling... a good project for tomorrow, we think.

Shoot, it almost looks like we know what we're doing. Any input is appreciated!!!

And here we are installing the hardware cloth........ until the drill bit broke! Hubby will procure one tomorrow, and we will carry on!

Here's a look at our superb bolt work.

Until tomorrow. :)

It's all level, stable, the floor support is in, rafters are up... Now for the walls!

The hole is for the nest boxes. We're thinking of doing something with partitions to give the community nest box idea a try, but be able to separate the nests into individual boxes if any issues arise. That is large enough to contain three slightly-larger-than-normal nesting boxes... Our ladies will need the space.

More support will be added underneath, then we will lay the floor and the roof (SunTuf panels, probably).

Onward, forward!

In honor of this upcoming Halloween, here is a spooky picture with an Australian Shepherd "ghost-est with the most-est" in the background.

We've got the backstops for the doors up, a wall erected, and the rafters on! Still working on putting hardware cloth in every little place.

Woogity boogity! ;)

We got most of the floor in... I will post a picture this evening when I get home. :)

It's coming right along, but we are running into issues. Hubby has to go on the road to work for maybe up to two months. We've still got quite a ways to go on the coop, and he's worried that it won't be finished in time for the chickens to have a snuggly home as the temps drop at night. I'm trying to keep my spirits up, but he won't be happy until this coop is completed (ideally before he leaves).

Fortunately, in Texas, the weather tend to be slightly milder than for some of our snowy neighbors to the North!

Here's to hoping!!!
