building paradise for the birds

I did not know one could get stainless wire. I thought about the aluminum oxidizing but not enough I suppose about it causing the steel to corrode.

Oh yep Granger Sells it so does McMaster carr... out of the ones most easy to find.

But there are several industrial suppliers...

McMaster Carr is the best online catalogue because not only do they sell they also have extensive drawings and specifications for every product... WE use to fight over the hard copy within the office because they are like gold for information. Thats why we were thrilled when they started offering online access. The catalogue alone weighed in at a good two pounds. Even if you dont buy from them they are spot on with their info.... Between that and the Machinerys handbook You could design and build ANYTHING.... not kidding.

Granger is a secondary source as well they deal mostly in machinery and components to build them.

i had a huge write up and it cut me off so ill keep it sweet and short
thanks deb i will look into that one
one one mess up and it happened tonight in the pitch black just a few minutes ago...i guess i cut the door an inch short...lol...been a long day...so im going to rip a inch board and then just screw it on the end of the door...not bad for the first one tho...def happy

hope every one has a great easter and hope everyone has enjoyed another fun little project....hope i inspired a few to make some hoop coops....as i have materials for another three sitting on the ground...lol

no splayed leg it healed itself...i believe that the problem was the bird was just to big for its new legs...splayed leg is normally to one side or the other..and this was not the case i thought the same at first and put the splint on and then took it off and gave it therapy..and then in the morning the bird was fine...was a little wobbly like it was drunk....but it got the hang of its new legs...lol...was funny to watch...i did put it in a coffee cup so it could not get picked on and work its legs when it was in the splints maybe that helped...but not sure...later...tired...and have so much still left to do...getting ready to plant seeds for the garden and the whole nine yards...i found some horse manure for a guy that has truck loads so im happy for everything that is going on...and this tuesday getting the cemani and honas shipped...so well see how the second round goes...i will be calling them and seeing if i can just pick them up at the airport...myself

Looking great - Your purple peafowl are doing good. I left the light on in the garage for them. Mae, were you holding up the wire in the one pic? Looks like it was a nice day up there, alot of sunshine. See you two tomorrow, Mom.

just got the purple peafowl in their temp coop...
well put the tarp is on...but doesnt fit all the way down on the other side...so i am going to look into getting the corrugated fiberglass panels...they allow 85 percent light to come thru...that is what i used on the greenhouses...

well this is how i got the peafowl..

pretty train...its atleast four feet long

question for all the peafowl owners ....do you think this is a purple male....you can see white in the primary...is this normal...or split to something...?

same question....is this a purple female....?

you can see purple in the birds when the light hits them the right way...the back of it seems to look a lot like the india blue...is that normal

well had a good day....supposed to get rain and then 1 to 3 inches of snow...well im tired so going to relax...hope everyone had a great easter...
